K&N vs. MAC

lol. good luck with finding smart folk.
kn has a heatshield. that would be the main deal.
there's talk about the plastic tube of the kn not absorbing as much heat as the metal pipe of the mac.
the fact that kn's tube is designed to the shape that they want for airflow, vs a mac which is limited to a pipe with the same diameter is another factor.
in all three - K&N is better than mac. Mac is not a bad option though for the $$'s. It's hard to quantify the differences in HP. If the mac is 80% hp to kn's 100% hp the price has to be a factor.
