Icon5 What can my 3.0L tow??

I have a 3.0L supercab 4x2 with a class3 hitch and I was thinking of getting a small like 10' maybe 15' camper. Do you guys think it will pull it, or dose any one pull something similar with a ranger?

Haul Away

Hi danger, you'll have no problems towing with the 3.0 as long as you dont try like a moron. I've towed a 10 ft camper, a 16 ft aluminum boat, and a 12 ft utillty trailer at different times wth my 3.0 litre. Tha being said i also have a tranny cooler and a automatic transmission. if you re driving a stick watch the clutch slippage when you start out. Theres a pic of my truck and boat after loading up afte a semi succesful day on the river. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3087077

i tow my 16'x48" Alweld aluminum boat with my 3.0 auto with no problems. the only thing i have experienced is that the 7.5 open doesn't like boat ramps too good

I've towed a 90's mustang on a tow dolly. Did it just fine, I had 235/75/15 tires with 3.73's. I'd even tow a full size truck like that on a tow dolly if I didn't have to take highway and was using a tow dolly. I wouldn't do it for a long time but I have no doubts it would do it.

i know how you fell on the slick treads...we quit using my truck(tried to save gas but it didn't) and started using my dad's '92 F-150 again b/c it has posi-trac. BTW we figured the gas mileage from our fishing trip this weekend and got like 11.49 mpg

sorry didnt mean to thread jack there lol

Check the fourth digit in your VIN, then go to this page to see what Ford rates your vehicle's GVWR. http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/FR/full.aspx?Page=9

I have towed a 16ft all-weld aluminum boat with a 25hp motor on the back, 2 large coolers full of ice, food, and drinks, 2 large tints, 10 medium-large logs of firewood, some chairs, fishing gear, and 15gals of fuel. I was also caring 3 other people with me in the truck...... what does all that add up to? lol

How ever much all that weighed, my truck pulled it fine. I have a 98 3.0 auto, 4.10 gears, and a limited slip rear end.

Ohh and that was pulled on the bumper. That was kinda scary, the ball was bent down a little to start with but after that it was bent a little more.
