Hey guys so as I was checking my oil levels I saw this cable hanging under the main fuse block and the power steering fuid resevoir. I took some pictures of it that way you can tell me what to do with it. My truck start and runs fine but sometimes idles at high rpms does that have to do with this?

By the way I forgot to mention that it has a harness the comes from under the fusebox

and then I saw this cable or hard hose which I followed and hides where the spark plug cables are.

some type of dump valve/solenoid for california emissions maybe? did u check your emissions hose routing? quite possibly could have something to do with the high idle

 

Well I'm not really sure itprobably is I guess I have to check the manual. I live in Mexico and this emissions tests are not done like in California

 

Your first picture is of a hose which goes to the vapor canister which, at least on my 1993 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0 liter V-6, is near the battery (front left of engine compartment). Do a Google image search using key words "emissions canister ford ranger" for pictures.

 

But this has been disconnected probably for a long time and I don't see anything wong with my truck only the high rpm idle when driving around the city for more than 20 minutes. Should I take it with a mechanic or can I hook it up by myself? Btw I have the same engine and year but on a mazda b3000

 

Your fourth picture is the electrical connector to the device which is part of the hose. The
device is a solenoid which controls vapor flow to/from the canister. The hose connects to
the canister at one end and at the other to the PCV valve which is probably on a valve cover.

I know nothing of the emissions requirements in Mexico. The high idle might be related to these disconnected devices. I'd remove the solenoid, clean it, reinstall it and the hose onto the canister and connect the electrical connector and see if changes the engine idle.
