shaky engine and power loss
Hi, I'm new here. I thought I'd post online to figure out what's wrong with my truck because I can't seem to get any local mechanics to help me with it without getting fed a bunch of b.s.
This has been happening for at least a year.
I get an error code. It's a misfire on cylinder six. The CEL comes on, the engine shakes, I rev the engine or drive for a few miles and everything calms down. The caution light generally stays on. This happens everyday, more so when it is cold.
I have swapped out the plugs three times. There is no coolant on the plug. There is nothing I can see to be obviously causing the problem. No dripping, no leaks, no broken hoses or cracks or anything. Could it be a wiring issue?
It's a 99 Ranger, 3.0 lit V6. Good truck, but lots of problems since I got it.
Any help is appreciated.

check igniter wire to cyl 6, and the coil itself, the wire may not be making a good connection therefore intermittent spurts of fire and misfire. lastly I'd take the truck to a reputable "tuner" shop and have them delve into the trucks computer, it could simply be a mis-read that your engine is adapting for that is causing your perfectly fine engine to act up, just ideas, idk, not a pro by any means
