Where to get bigger MAF and Injectors??

Who makes a larger MAF that will work on my 05 Ranger 4.0? Who makes larger injectors for it or am I better off just getting a larger fuel pump? Who makes the fuel pump? Where can I get this stuff? Thanks
Ryan

i know that granatelli no longer makes a MAF for the ranger, but i think maybe Pro-M does. the other problem you may run into is, on your 05, that the original MAF is molded into your upper air box, this may cause some problems with the calibration of the larger MAF

as far as injectors, i know a few people make them, but unless youre running forced induction, you shouldnt need them. a custom tune can adjust the stock injectors to match a larger maf and any other mods you may have done.

im not positive but i think EE uses the stock injectors with their kit, you can adjust them up some. ill talk to doug about it today, he would know about it than anyone.

I sent doug an email, he is a busy guy so it will probably a week before he gets back to me. I do believe you are right about the EE kit, I am not worried about it, I would just like to be able to turn up the boost later (after I pay it off).

Cool man, thanks. I sent professional mass air meter (the new Pro-M shop) an email about getting a replacement MAF just so I dont have to cut mine off the stock air box, which I might just do to save cash. I guess if I dont run my intake in a linear path through the MAF, I have to get a special one, i guess it is because if there is a turn right before the MAF, the air is more dense on one side versus the other so the MAF doesnt calibrate properly. I will just run it strait through with the turn after tha MAF so I dont need to get a Blow Through MAF. Ask Doug if he thinks that the stock fuel injection system can handle 5-7psi without modification other than a custom Xcalibrator 2 Tune from a good shop with a dyno. Thanks

At this point I know I need a bigger turbo than I had expected, at least a T04 with a 35-61 size, I will most likely go bigger on the inlet and outlet sizes. I will also need flanges for the inlet and outlet, an external wastegate with weld on adapters, X number of feet of miscellanious bent pipe with silicone connectors, a long skinny intercooler, and a pump to return the oil that comes out of the turbo back into the oil pan with custom steel braided lines. I dont want to get too involved with wiring so I will run that pump off of the fuel pump circuit (just like STS does). If nothing other than that and some dyno time is needed, I will be a happy camper.

Hey guy,

First off DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS has to say about MAF's. They suck, always will and always have, the old Pro-M. If you dont listen to me and have them make you a MAF, which I'm more then certain they will do, you will have problem after problem getting the a/f right and you'll never make the most HP from it because you're MAF signal to the PCM will be so screwed up that you'll be lucky to find someone to tune it. I charge an extra $100 an hour to tune for a Pro-M because of this, with the money you can save you can buy a FORD MAF for alot less.

Now, with that said. I do the tuning for the Explorer Express Supercharger kits and for their 04-05 Ranger kit they provide a new MAF and connector, actually go back to the old style MAF 80mm Ford meter. They provide the wiring harness diagram to make it work as well.

You will have to do this because if you make anything over 215 rwhp then you will peg your stock meter and then the PCM will loose controll of the a/f ratio and it will go lean. The 80mm Meter is good for around 275-300rwhp, if you want more then you'll need to go 90mm.

For the injectors also within the 275-300rwhp range you'll need 30's, there again something you can get from Explorer Express. If you think you'll go higher then 42's are what you'll need.

IF you want to go higher then 275-300 rwhp then you'll also need a aftermarket clutch or if you have an auto then don't try it. You will eventually loose the transmission.

Your stock fuel pump will support your HP levels but if you want to upgrade use a 190lph 87-93 Mustang pump, the Focus pump is great but isn't the right pump to use with the mechanical returnless system. It is the one to use on the Electrical returnless system.

Later Doug.

Oh MIghty and Knowledgeable Doug, I must have more info! Can I get the injectors and MAF someplace else? Do you recomend a shop near me in So Cal to have it tuned via my Xcalibrator system? I did speak to the ProM guys and they said they cant help me, they said as long as the MAF is in a linear path with the air flow, the stock one should work fine. Thanks Doug, I REALLY APPRECIATE it all!!!! also, si the process of swapping injectors with the 30 lbs ones going to be a manifold removal job?

Oh and I only want around 5-7 psi of boost, should be around 250-260 depending on tuning to the wheels. I would buy the EE kit, but I dont have 4000 dollars for it, but I really do like it! I figure I can turbo for much less and do the work myself, and it will be a rare truck.

doug is actually on his way to FFW in GA but i did talk to him on the phone, he said you would need a new maf and injectors with boost, and said to call the guys up at explorer express and tell them doug at bamachips sent you. im not sure where they get their parts or what applications would work, but they will know!

I called Dave at EE and he will get me a price for the maf and adpater and injectors with plug adapters. They will be the 80mm maf and 30 lb injectors. With that kind of upgrade, I would be able to turn up the boost a lot
