Exhaust question......again.

Exhaust question......again.
I've got an 01 XLT with a Flowmaster and dual exhaust coming straight out of the back. I had to remove the spare but thats not a big deal, it doesnt haul too much at the moment anyways. My question is, the guy who custom bent my exhaust gave me the option of going straight out of the back or at a 45 degree angle behind each back tire. As it is now, I can't put a hitch on it. There just isn't enough room with the exhaust. Does anyone have any pictures of their exhaust coming out of the sides? I really like the duals but I need a hitch to haul the quad. I can't fit it in the back of the flareside without taking the wheels off lol. slight miscalculation when i bought it. Thanks guys.

If your going to have him redo it, might as well have him cut it off by the axle, let you put the hitch on, and then route around it...i like it coming out the back more than the sides, because i was debating back or sides myself....mine goes between my hitch and bumper, since im BL'ed alot of people shorten thier hitch but i like it because if something hits back there (4 wheeling or a car) my exhaust wont get pushed up and bent..

that doesn't look half bad i guess. here's another question....If I did a 3 inch body lift, I'm assuming that I'll need to have the hangers for the exhaust shortened so the tips won't be hanging down 3 inches right? lol that sounds like a stupid question but it was just something i was curious about. i probably should've done the body lift first.
Thanks for the pics though guys. Gives me a few ideas/options. I just wish I woulda thought of that before. then again, i didnt have the quad when i had the exhaust put on.

No you can't take the cats out. I doubt any reputable exhaust shop would do it. The one I go to would though...

you would have a check engine light
you can get a MIL elimantor to get rid of it
unless your running super/turbo charger you wont see any benifits expect hearing loss

does anyone have a picture of it coming out of the side before the rear tire? ive got a flareside so if i put it on either side if the hitch, it isnt going to look right. not to me anyways. they'll be tooo far apart and out by the edges of the bumper. all i need is an extra 1 1/2 inches and the quad would fit in the bed. lol figures. i even went as far as trying to take out the plastic liner to see if it would fit....it didnt. so while it was out, i had a rhino put in. im still trying to figure out how to get the quad back there though. take of the front wheels i guess is my only option left.

Just get the hitch and a trailer, it may be more expensive up front , but it's so much easier in the long run.
I still have stoch exhaust on my 99', but I have heads back dual on my 84'. Personally I like the way it looks exiting one on each side after the rear tire. I think i have pictures of it on my cardomain page.

Not sure how it works on a Rangers but the 2nd gen kl motors show a 7 hp increase with a "test pipe".. Its not horriably lounder if have a decent muffler..

i wana get a test pipe... thinking about getting a piece of 2.5 pipe and one of these little guys and building my own test pipe....
(keep in mind this would be for off road use only)
wonder if it would send a code. ???
from my understanding if i used a MIL eliminator everything would be ok...
i just read here ( http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ale/index.php# ) how to build my own MIL Eliminator...

hey thomas, sorry I didnt check back on this until now, technically you can take off the last two CATS without throwing any codes....but Don't! they are already highflow cats so you will only make your exhiuast slightly louder but loose power.
honestly there is no Cheap way to do exhuast unless you have a hookup with welding and mandrel pipe bending equipment. or a bender robot. just start saving
