building up a 4.0 ohv

Im looking to build up my 4.0 in my 98 4x4 and im wondering what all can be done, what gets the most power and how i should go about building it like what should come first and what not

i know everyone will want to tell me to v8 swap but then i couldn't tell the kids i race that i have a v6.... plus i plan on competing in the the v6 pre-run class

i plan on dezert racing as well as having some fun boostin on some kids on the street and the drag strip
although i plan on building it as fast as i can get it naturally asperated before turbo/supercharger/n2o

anything will help
Thanks
-Andy

There is a company that offers alot of things for the OHV... but I can't think of thier damn name right now. Hold on...

Here ya go: Tom Morano http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...?CategoryID=32 As far as power, prolly however deep your pockets go. But I would either contact them or Super Six Motorsports for that number.

go to therangerstation.com and search. a 5.0 swap is much cheaper for more power you will be lucky to break 200 rwhp with a built NA 4.0

im not trying to sound like an *** but have you ever really looked in depth of building one of these motors? i picked up a free block and heads and had big plans for them till i started looking at the prices. you can make 300 rwph with a v8 for around 5g. you get around 200-220 rwph out of the 4.0 for 5g. plus your still stuck with a motor that has next to no aftermarket back up.

Well for our engines theres a good list of things you could do:

Cam - Summit Racing
Coil pack - Summit Racing
Headers - Summit Racing
Electric Fan - Junkyard
Performance MAF - Summit Racing
intake - Summit Racing
Exhaust - Summit Racing
bbk Throttle body - Summit Racing
SCT Tune.
And I believe a Superchager.

I'm sure I'm missing some. Defintely check Tom Morona's site

Downey not tryin to be an *** but not everyone wants what you want them to have, he clearly states in the OP that he doesnt want a V8 so if you have nothing productive to say about the post keep your mouth shut.

He never set a budget. The OP just wanted to know all that can be done. And all that stuff is bolt on, Not sure if the Cam is bolt on. A little work involved there.

I haven't seen it posted but if you want to stick with a V6 and make power swap in a SOHC and go from there. They have 50 more HP right out of the box and have more options for power adders.

intake and coil pack is done as well as exhaust
in order i plan on getting a tuner, then some headers, then head work as well as a new set of rad cams
i dont know where i should go from there

throttle body, per maf, E-fan, THEN 4.3 STOKER KIT!!!!, then finally the Eaton m90 or a turbo
