Does anyone know how I can install a FIPK or equivalent air intake on my 2004 4.0?? Problem is that 2004 was the first year that they built the MAF into the airbox. Do I need to convert it back to a 2003 style MAF or is there something else I can do??? PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have been racking my brains out trying to come up with a solution. :?: :?:

Pic Hosting Request..

A conversion back to a 2003 might not be that easy.
The throttle body is a different size and the MAF sensor is totally different.
Aren't you satisfied with the performence gain from removing the air silencer?
Is it just about looks or do you think there will be additional performence gains?

well i talked to my K&N guy again today and he says they are still working on all 04 intakes. he says they are having a hard time trying to find a design that is easy to install and design. also they have to make sure the tube design gives the most power

I don't like the stock intake design. It just looks cheesy and Im sure that a smoother intake tube wouldnt hurt performance any. Hell I can't find but 1 aftermarket intake for my 2005 Focus ST either. I hate having cars with redesigns....always takes forever to get aftermarket.

Save your money, the performance u gain will be so small. I had an 01 with a FIPK Gen II than got my 03 and did the airbox mod. Noticed the same change, little better throttel response and more noise. But other than that it was the same.

Just my 2 pennys.

i think the K&N makes a difference, you just cant feel it, it makes more of a difference on a supercharged cobra, then it would on our trucks...lol

I have the SSD, similar to the MAC, and when i throw the stock one back on, i feel the difference, and my stock one is chopped up...Its just louder...

KKM is now making an intake kit for the 04 4.0!!!!! I don't know how good it is but at least there is one out there on the market. It is a bit pricey compared to KKM's other intakes but $160 aint bad.
