I'm new to this forum. I drive a 93 Ranger with the 4.0 in it. It was rebuilt about 3 years ago. Its always ran a little rough. Always been fuel issues. I've done stuff here and there to improve it. Replaced Both o2 sensors mass air flow and now iacv. It was just a little shaky at idle in drive and slow to respond to throttle. Would sometimes bog down when giving it gas but it would clear up. Not it idles rough and lacks power. To the point I'm afraid of driving it. I've checked the codes the codes its throwing and they are as follows. 173 176 232 412 172 136. I know they're all fuel issues. Lean and rich bank 1 and 2. And the 232 is a secondary fuel circuit high input. I'm just not sure where to start with it. I've checked the fuel pressure regulator. It seems OK. I tried a computer out of an explorer the same year and it ran exactly the same as before. Couldnt find one for a ranger the same year for cheap. Im on a tight budget. And my tank does have a small hole in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

And my intake has oil in it. Not old and new iacv did too when its running rough.

 

Any new coil pack or plug wires since you have owned it? They get weak and the spark sometimes arcs under certain weather issues .

 

My solution for everything... Seafoam the engine!

I've replaced the plugs wires and coil. And I've tried seafoam. No help. I was told there was supposed to be some oil in the intake. Blow by from the pcv.

 

Did it have this issue before the rebuild? If not how long has this been happening? Make sure your replacing all these sensors with oem. After market sensors never last and half the time don't work right. Yes there's a little blow by oil in the intake but it shouldn't be much. Check the timing as well. Maybe it never got set right after the rebuild.

 

I think it sounds like a timing issue myself. Similar symptoms to a friends truck which turns out to have the timing screwed up.
