Lifter?

So I've had my 1991 Ranger STX 4.0L 4X4 5-speed for over a month now and its been running great. It has 114,000 miles on it. Today I started it up and it sounded like a lifter was stuck, it ticked for probably two minutes before it went away. I just changed the oil with Motorcraft 10w30 1,000 miles ago. Even though its getting pretty cold out the owners manual said to use the 10w30. My old 2000 Ranger 4.0L called for 5w30 but I guess the clearances were tighter in the newer motors. I'll synthetic in it if I have to but I only paid $1,500 for the truck so I couldn't see putting real expensive oil in it. Any ideas on what I could do?

most trucks do that when it starts to get really cold because the oil is thicker once it heats up it is ok maybe switch to 5w30 see if it helps
