Infamously ticking 4.0

My 4.0 OHV has 244k miles on it and runs good, but it has an annoying tick that increases in speed as rpms increase. My research has led me to believe it is most likely the pushrods. I plan on doing a v8 swap as soon as I save up enough money but I'm probably looking at 3 or 4 months before I'm able to do that, but I want to make sure nothing fails before then as it is currently my DD. Should I replace the pushrods and possibly the rockers while I'm at it or will it not effect reliability? Also I know this is not the right subforum for this question but to prevent starting a new thread. I have an auto trans and it jolts when put into drive and reverse, and also through each gear. I believe this may be more of a reliablity issue than the engine. When I do my v8 swap I want to drop in a manual trans, but I was just thinking maybe I should do it in two phases and drop in a trans first, and then the engine. Will a m5r2 bolt up to both a 5.0 and my 4.0? Thanks in advance and hopefully the trans question isn't a problem in this subforum.
