ranger vs silverado

I wasnt really sure where to post this so I decided it was probably something you 4.0s might want to know. Last night I was hanging out with my buddies and me and my friend came side-by-side at a red light...he drives a 07 v8 silverado with a dual exhaust CAI and superchip no lift on stock chevy radials. I said to him "I wanna see how fast it is..." So at green we both went for it...long story short I smoked his ***. Afterward neither one of us could wrap our heads around what had just happened...How does a lifted v6 on 33s with an intake and dual exhaust win 0-90? I was so suprised...he was mad. hahaha

I hope you weren't street racing on a public road with other cars around. That probably wouldn't be too smart to post all over the internet.

x2. Not smart. I know a guy who got caught, 6 points on his license, IF he can get insurance, its through the roof.

But, to answer your question.
Weight. Your truck is lighter than his, taking less to make it move faster.

well the 5.3 base model V8 silverado makes 315 horse, stock 4.0 horse rating is: 207.

only 100 horse difference.

now add weight difference to the equation and its not hard to see why you beat him

I had a friend who used to own an 03 silverado 5.3 intake/exhaust. it was a standard cab, short bed, automatic. Pretty cool truck I guess. Lowered on nice wheels. I had my 03 ranger 4x4 xlt ext cab 4.0 with a aem brute force intake. Every time we ran them We were dead even. Like no joke. Dead even. If we went from a role I would start to pull. It wasn't like a crazy pull though. It never bothered him. 1st time we both kinda shook our heads a little bit. It kinda makes a little since. ish. that was the quickest ranger I've had to date though. I don't think the fx4 could do that. A lot of the older full sizes were not that quick though. New ones, forget it, we don't have a chance with there top motors in them.

Heck no!!! I'm not mentally unstable. It was an abandoned area in the middle of nowhere with a large straight away and it was late at night. I would never even consider street racing....

Good lord, go on a fast car forum people post videos of themselves street racing, if your being smart about it then who cares! It's only the clowns weaving in and out of traffic who should be banned from driving..

Anyway, my buddy has a stock 6.0 silvy and my ranger on 35's and stock gearing embarrasses him

I see it all the time...I do it from time to time...It is retarded to do it in or around traffic. Stupid...I can't say I didn't/haven't done it when I was younger...Thinking back to the crazy driving I used to do was to say the least...Nuts and not the smartest ideas! I've slowed down quite a bit. I take a lot of that to the track/s now. Which is smart. I do really miss how it used to be before the HUGE crackdown on street racing. Now and for a long while they mess with cars that are just driving around the road for what they look like. That is what happens I guess.

P.S. the pic of

Was me being sarcastic./ making fun/ ;-P buttttt like I said, since he is from Florida I understand it is hard for him not to go fast. lol hahahahaha

Pshhhhhhhhh you have a 3L with 33's on it. ;-P Not gonna lie though man. Some sohc 4.0 get it pretty good. Like I said in my first post...I guaranty that some 4L are wayyyyy quicker than others in the exact same truck. I've had 3 different 4 liters in my 01' plus trucks. All 4wd. 2 of them were xlt with 4.10's both auto's. my 03' xlt was faster than my 02' xlt. My fx4 is a 4.0 as well (duh I guess) it is quicker than my 02' xlt also. The fx4 however is still wayyyyyyy slower than my 03' xlt. That thing was randomly quick for what it was. A buddy of mine used to have a 4.0 in his truck. It is a 01' 2wd xlt. He put 4.10's in it, intake, exhaust, and a diablo? (is that the name of it?) tuner. He only ran a 15.4 in the quarter. I hit a 15.2 in my stock 4x4 xlt. The 03' xlt...(Yea Yea I know it's not fast.) my 02' xlt only ran an 16.1...I'm sure from personal experience that the 4L are different from motor to motor...So you never know!?!

There is no way 1 of 2 identical trucks are faster then the other. It has everything to do with the driver.

i actually have a 2.2 on 205's lmao my ranger doesn't exist anymore but my friends 03 is slow as ***** with a 4.0. i must just be feeling the torque out of the 5.3L.
either way, racing a truck without forced induction or lots of motor work if kept NA is stupid specially on a public roadway lol
