Taking Off the Oil pan

i have tried to find a topic on taking out an oil pan, mb its out there mb its not....b4 i start i have a 1999, 4.0 OHV 4x4

basically, my engines having troubles, and i want to pull the oil pan to look at the oil intake tube next time i change the oil. BUT
are there any tricks to taking the oil pan off? i have heard i may need to loosen the engine mounts and lift the engine, others say it drops right out..

any help please? im planning on doin a lot of stuff that day so i dont want to get hung up on one thing

ya i also want to know about the oil pan lol no one seems to know and i got a leak!

well u have more of a problem then me haha, but reguardless we need to figure this out, i want to know if it will take me 30 mins to an hr or half of the day..

Oil Pan


Special Service Tool(s)


Lifting Eyes
303-D030 (D81L-6001-D) or equivalent


3-Bar Engine Support Kit
303–F072


Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «Section 414-01».

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to «Section 303-12».

µ 3. Remove the two bolts, lift the fan shroud out of the lower retaining clips and drape it over the fan.

4. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «Section 100-02».

5. Remove the front tires and wheels. For additional information, refer to «Section 204-04».

6. Remove the front inner splash shields.

µ 7. Remove the four motor mount nuts.

8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Attach the Lifting Eyes to the engine.

10. Raise and support the engine with the 3-Bar Engine Support Kit.

11. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «Section 100-02».

µ 12. Remove the four bolts and disconnect the front driveshaft from the front differential and position aside.

µ 13. Disconnect the front differential vent hose.

µ 14. Remove the transmission cooler tube retainer.

µ 15. Position a suitable jack under the front differential.

µ 16. Remove the bolts.

µ 17. Remove the bolt and partially lower the front differential.

18. Remove the starter motor. For additional information, refer to «Section 303-06».

19. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter.

µ 20. Remove the Torx® bolts.

µ 21. Remove the bolts and the nuts.

µ 22. Remove the oil pan and discard the gasket.

omg i can live with the leak lol. this is the time for some ALL MIGHTY DUCK TAPE!!! and some silly puddy

the repair manual says the engine has to b removed.. but thats a load of bs from what i have heard... i just dont want to pull it half way off and b like sh*t... i tore the gasket, and i cant get a new one in there lol
