It's right in front of where the spare tire goes (used to, anyway) on my 02 FX4. It has something to do with the fuel, but I don't know what. Thanks.

it is the evaporator for the fuel system.......it collects the fumes off the gas when the truck isn't running and then releases them while it is running.....

its needed, if you remove it, everything SHOULD run normal, but its going to throw a check engine light

I could care less about smog legal....we haven't had emissions here in Florida since 1998, but I don't want a check engine light, so the warp drive stays...damn I hate that thing. I wouldn't care, except it's big and ugly. Oh well.

Ricky

you could always relocate it. and if ya take it off... the check engine light may or may not come on.. i took it off my bagged truck for a while(while i was redoing the back of the frame and i drove about 1500 miles before it came on aha

theres a way around everything.... once you know how the system detects if its working correctly (most likly by inducing a vaccum into the sytem and test if the vacuum drops) you can get around it...

but is it worth all the work.. no
