there is a 99 4x4 ranger for sale down the street from me but it has a blown 3.0
and i have a 97 ranger 2wd with a 4.0 can i swap it since i have the computer and stuff and will it fit the motor mounts from the 3.0.
also will mt 2wd tranny fit the 4x4 if it swap tail shafts/stocks?

 

I don't think the tranny will swap correctly since its 3.0/4.0 but I could be wrong.

 

4.0 and 3.0 have different trans basically the bolt holes now 4wd and 2wd thats completely different

 

so nothing is interchangible?
i think the bed will still fit though

 

ya the beds will change and basically everything else just the front clip is different body wise

 

well ill most likly get it for the bed and part the rest.

well you could swap the engines but you would have to more than likely come up with a 4wd tranny that fits a 4.0 i would do it and i got a 99 4x4 automatic and i went from a 96 2wd manual and all that i notice is it sits up off the ground hire cause they both were extened cabs

and what is the 99 a auto or manual apposed to your 97

 

im confused so if i find a fwd auto tranny for a 4.0 thats all ill need?
