Help!!

I have a 1992 Ranger XLT 4.0 and my truck brutally failed an emissions test here in Ontario, Canada. I am going to replace the catalytic coverter but i cannot tell if i have 1 or two. They look exactly the same, but are one after another on the exhaust pipe. So im not sure if one is a cat, and the other is the resonator. Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to get my truck on the road ASAP!

Just replacing parts is not the right way to "fix" things. You need to find out whats failed and then repair / replace stuff.

Something as simple as a temp sensor could be causing it to run rich and therefor fail.

I agree with Rich. find out why your truck failed and replace those parts. Don't go and replace parts that you don't have to.
