Getting Rid of 3rd cat (Magnaflow)

Hey guys I've currently got the Magnaflow Dual exit cat-back on my 04 4.0 Ranger. I've been thinking about cutting the 3rd cat out, I'm pretty happy with the way it sounds but I want to get a little bit more of an agressive sound out of the truck. I deffinately don't want to loose any torque from this or make the truck sound obnoxius. My 97 thunderbird 4.6 has true dual exhaust with a dual in dual out magnaflow with no cats (rear 02's shut off). I'm not sure if I lost any torque by lossing the cats on that car because I went from 3.27 to 3.73 gears at the same time. So whats you guys's input on lossing the 3rd cat? Thanks.

Cats are there for a reason. Leave it on, it is a federal offense i believe to remove them. If you want a more aggressive sound try another muffler. Mabe a flowmaster 40?? just my .02

We don't have any kinds of emissions testing/checking up here so I'm not too worried about it. The flowmaster sound isnt really what I'm going for I just want a little deeper sound. To each their own but to me, flowmasters sound like a tin can full of nails.

do it. i did, i def didn't lose anything and it did get a little louder. it shouldn't be obnoxious if you still have a muffler. i know a bunch of people are gonna say not to because of the environment, and the legality , but i wouldn't let that bother you too much.

the last two are there to preheat the front two cats on a 4.0

i pulled the whole thing out and installed 2 magnaflow cats. mine is pretty deep at idle and putting around in the parking lot. open it up and it gets a little raspy.

my 99's got 2 but w/e

it is a federal offense to remove them but then it also comes down to laws like in Laramie, you have to have a muffler but no cats... weird stuff.

just dont go to the EPA bragging that you took it off

Yeah I haven't had any on my Thunderbird for about 4 years and no problems or anything. Obviously if I moved to somewhere where they tested for that I'd change that. My main concern was what kind of changed this would make in sound, and I don't want to lose any torque.

Ah not sure I got them for free. LOL anyway i think they are 90 each. stainless steel and mirror polish.

the sound is not what i ever thought it would be, very beefy putting around and at idle. But it really opens up when i hammer down.
