K & N Air Filter

K & N Air Filter
Surprisingly I couldn't find any discussions on this, or I am not computer literate enough, probably the latter. Anyhow I don't expect much in the way of performance but looking to save money in the long run. Will this filter cause any negative effects? I plan on just the drop in replacement. The cost of the filter is 50.00, The cost of the paper filters is around 17.00. Will this simple change improve gas mileage? Thanks for your responses.

for what its worth I put a k&n intake on my ranger when I had it and did exhaust at the same time and didnt notice much of a difference at all. I have been looking into getting a new filter for my jeep and but I dont think it will be a k&n this time. I have read that they let a lot more air through but they also let more dirt through and also sometime when people clean them they put too much oil on the filter and that can mess up your mass air flow sensor. I think i'm going to go with a aem filter when the time comes because they are a "dryflow" filter and do not require oil but I dont know if they make drop in filters.
