tran swap

A friend of mine has a 2000 for ranger that has 4.0 with a 5 speed and it has gone bad and he has a 1988 ford bronco 2 that has a 2.9 with 5 speed will that trans out of the bronco fit the ranger and its a 4x4 and the ranger is two wheel drive and if it does fit what do i have to do to make the 4x4 a 4x2 trans thanks for everyones help

wont fit, differnt engine and year models

The 4.0 ohv is a bored and stroked 2.9.

Chances are the trans will work, you may need to tear it down to swap the tails shafts/housings.

Unfortunately the bronco might be toyo kogo and the ranger has a Mazda trans. So you would need to source parts for the swap.

the bolt up patterns are the same through 1998 but for a 2000 I dont quite know.
