So I went mudding last night went through a puddle just a bit to deep I think? So now my truck is running like crap, just vefore I went out I changed my oil with mobil 1syn and a motorcraft filter. Its seems to be idling high around 1200-1500rmp but only a little bit. The worst part of it is from around idel to about 2100rpm its really rough jumpy sort of the its gone or u just cant feel it. I replaced the air filter this morning, still no luck. The other serious problem is that the temp gage, which uded to chill around half goes up to the line and the check gage light comes on and off. I've driven about another 100 miles today with it like this doesnt really seem to be getting that hot actually, I have check the oil about 5 times and its fine no water or anything.

Any help we be GREATLY appreciated.

 

Check your plugs.

Use electrical contact cleaner on your plug wire contacts.

Clean your MAF.

 

do you know if you sucked any water in the intake?

 

If I had sucked any water in wouldn't it all be out by now. The oil is fine.
I'm gonna open the maf and iac tonite.

 

get some MAF cleaner... that sounds like the problem... most likely covered with dirt and mud ect... if you had sucked much water in you would have worse problems if your truck was even running

 

For the overheating problem, try backflushing the fins of your radiator and AC condenser. They may be clogged with mud.

 

if the engine light came on, see what it has to say.

 

I think he is talking about the CHECK GAGE light, not the CHECK ENGINE light. The CGL comes on for high coolant temperature, low oil pressure or low fuel level.

 

Yah its weird no check engine light I just cant figure out how its getting hot its not overheating or smoking. I thought it might have been the maf, will be the first thing I pull in the morning. Also probally wouldn't hurt to check out my IAC as I get get the hum occasionaly.

I sprayed it pretty good at the car wash today, will try again tomorrow got to finish washing the truck. I'm also goning to look at an aftermarket temp gage.

Any possibilty its my thermostat?

 

Went out this afternon finished cleaing it up sprayed by the rad and condsor real good And still my truck will slowly heat up. It really gets my only thing I can think is that its the thermostat sticking halfway or something.

 

you would have to flush teh radiator, not just spray the outside with water. and if youd sucked water in the motor, it would be hydrolocked, and you'd be buying another engine.
