anyone elses engine tick?

when mine is idling i hear a ticking noise..but when i rev it goes away..anyone else have this problem?

thats just the lifters and or the fuel injectors.

i think..

It could be the timing chain, piston slap, or possibly a fuel injector.

First thing I'd do is try a thicker and fully synthetic oil.

Mines ticked since i got her...I heard someone say once"It's when the 4.0 stops ticking and making weird noises ...that's when you start to worry!"

Yea seriously. The day it goes silent I will be concerned. I haven't had a single mechanical problem with this truck in 5 years. I'll live with the ticking and just write it off as a heartbeat.

Yeah, I was gonna say it would be "the heartbeat of America," but these aren't Chevy's. (Thank God for that one...)

My Miata would do it to until the oil hit the lifters then everything would quiet down. That thicker oil idea may have merit though...

yes and no. when my engine ticks regularly, its time for about 3 quarts of oil. when its under heavy load/acceleration, then its just normal.

find me a ford motor that doesn't tick. they all do it, just some are louder than others

Mine ticks and still does.....now harder to hear with an exhaust system. Ignore it.

mine ticks, seems to be alot louder since i've been towing heavier loads.

My F150 ticks, but its the injectors, it could just be valves or injectors, either way it wouldnt be something to worry about.

Yes, my engine had ticks but I have it dipped at the vet's every 3 months and the ticks are gone.

Fleas too...

under load or at idle? mine ticks as well. at idle its one of the pulleys. while driving its either timing chain or valves i think

lucas oil treatment took aways the ticks use it next oil change

mine ticks when i first start it... then after it warms it goes away...

mine ticks all the time.. im thinking just lifters... no big deal.. done it since i bought it...

just wear and tear.. not a whole lot you can do about it. Done a tuneup lately?
