Fastest MPH's in your 4.0's
#28
I refuse to exceed 80 for any reason on a public road with a speed limit of 65. It accomplishes nothing other than wasting gas. Maybe some people feel the need to drive at some retarded speed on a public road to make up for other deficiencies in their life but I don't see the point.
CT and MA are the worst of the continuous 48 for their driving.

Speed limit is 70. Traffic flow in the left hand lane is 80-85. Middle lane 75-80.
Welcome to Florida's section of I-75. Haul *** or get your *** out of the way.

Let me clarify my earlier posts . . .
140 KPH (about 87 MPH) is the limit set by the governor in my truck.
Knowing that, it kind of answers the OP's question about how fast the truck can go - no need to check it out, the computer won't let you go faster.
Now of course, you can modify or override the limiter. Question is, do you really need to? Or want to?
I've never felt the need to do so - I'm comfortable with it. If you want to do so, that's OK too.
But there will be very stiff penalties if you're caught testing those limits on public roads; there are penalties if you're caught going as fast as the speed governor allows, even.
I don't mind the governor - I generally will not exceed about "10 over" (that's kilometers per hour - about 6-7 mph) of whatever given limt of the road I'm on.
And even at that speed, I'm far from the fastest driver on whatever road I'm on.

hmm. i dont really see why its bad to post it in print. if anyone that could do anything about it, saw it, im pretty sure they cant make it stick in court. other than it being typed on the internet, they never saw you, or clocked you going that fast.
