For pushing 35's I would recommend the 87 torque for the third choice. I had them make me a towing tune, which was killer for just running around. I hardly used the 93 performance. I think mostly because since I had a stick I would use the torque and towing programs to give me more low end power so I could get moving with slipping the clutch as much. Even once I went to the 4.88 gears it was just more fun with the torque and towing programs.
I would get 87 and 93 torque and then either a 87 or 93 performance.

just cause you have the OBD, doesnt mean you have the exact same options
its just something i was told about my 99, but i never backed it up with actually information, just word of mouth

What is the difference between 93 race and 93 performanc? I am thinking of getting 87 performance, 89 performance, and 93 performance or 93 race (I won't run 93 probably unless I go to the track or something). I won't tow with the truck and my tires will probably never go over 31-32" in dia.

Heres a few tidbits of info for you guys.
BamaChips does not have an 87 torque tune, they will only make torque tunes on 89 octane up.
The Torque tunes use a little more fuel to give some more power. Some people prefer them in day to day driving over performance tunes, but most people see the best mileage gains with the performance tunes.
For the ranger, there is no practical race tune.
The three most common tunes are 87 performance, high octane performance, and high octane torque. Rarely is there a case where you would need something different, except in maurice's case, where the lowest he runs is 89 octane, i would get the 89 performance tune instead of 87
As far as speedo correcting, we are not able to make changes for gear ratios or tires for models 2000 and older. Just the way its set up on the older ones, we arent able to access it to make the changes.

I have the 87 Performance, 93 Performance, and 93 Torque. I've tried both 93 programs, but I have used the 87 Performance program 99.9% of the time since I have had the programmer since gas prices are so high and I'm too cheap to fill up with premium. I can say the the 93 Performance tune is a monster on a street truck like mine with stock height tires. Lotsa fun! I can't complain about the 87 performance program I run all the time either because the shifting is firm and quick and it does run better. The speed limiter is also gone, but I never drive that fast, only once to make sure it was gone!

Thanks for the info. I know that "race" and the 4.0 4wd Ranger are kind of funny together, but I swear I saw that option on Bama's site. I just figured it was a 93 tune with timing on the edge of detonation, etc. that was not exactly practical for daily uses (hills, towing, etc.), but with good gas would give you a couple of extra HP and TQ. I just think I will get the 87, 89, and 93 performance tunes so that all of my options will be covered and my fuel milage won't suffer.
