04 4.0 k&n 77 series results
haven't had time to post the results k&n gave me back and i got my truck back but looks like the 77 series which is just a chrome version of the 63 series aircharger didn't perform as well. Due to manufacturing. Put simply you can make ANYTHING with plastic and any shape....metals not that fun and easy to play with.
The result was a 7 hp increase on my truck as i said its an 04 4.0 with 11k miles and flowmaster dual exhaust.... looks like theyll be sending me the 63 series this coming week that will go nice with the exhaust and jba headers ive ordered. But just some fyi for some of you guys wondering..
oh yah kit goes into production in a few weeks

the 77 is aluminum or something..more for asthetics less power gains
the 63 is like the 57 or whatever i think. the name changes once it becomes carb legal..the only thing keeping it is the state is slow with paperwork..isn't a problem. when it becomes legal u will get your sticker.
the 63 is the plastic one... all black. better hp gains and slightly quieter because plastic is able to muffle the intake noise. cheaper and overall id say a better buy...plus how many guys actually want a chrome intake when everything else underyour hood is black anyway...looks more stock!

Here is what the kit looks like and comes with on Neils truck. Yes it does come with a new pipe from the throttle body to the filter, bracket, filter and clamps.

Ya, found in on the K&N website... Don't know if I can justify $300 though.

I prefer metal intakes. I've had 2 K&N's fail on me before I moved to a MacPerformance intake. Its a big chrome tube and has a LOT of airflow going thru it. My heads have been extrude hones and those K&N intakes didn't keep up with the Mac intake at all. One suffered from extreme cold and started to crack. I'm glad none of it went into my intake.
Using Digimoto, the temperatures read off the IAT sensor between a Metal tube and a Plastic one is Minimal ( less then 5 degrees ).
