Just thought I would pass on this tidbit I got from a Discovery Channel program I watched a while back. They experimented with a BUNCH of different driving styles to see which got the best mileage and the winner by far was this:
From a dead stop, MAT the throttle, BUT ... shift at no higher than 2200 RPM. Apparently the engine is most efficient under WOT, but this is countered by RPM as the engine speeds up.
My problem is not going WOT from the stop light, rather it is shifting just before it starts getting fun
