Difference between OHV and SOHC 4.0
I have no idea what i have in my rig expect that its a 4.0L V6. Its a 98 XLT 4x4. I know SOHC means Single Overhead Cam, but what does OHV mean? Which engine is better? My rig has 142,000 miles on it and it is still running like a champ. My check engine light is on but thats because I need a new MAF. For whatever engine I have, what are some good tips you can give me for my mileage and to get the most life out of it? Thanks guys!!

Wow, great info guys, so thats why my rig seems a bit slow for a 4.0 V6 and the newer ones seem a bit quicker.
So, with the OHV is there anything that is a common issue or problem (besides the 47 lost horsepower) once they get a little high in mileage? Im at 142,000 and just wondering if I should start to look out for somethings.

The OHVs are known for longevity(however your spell it). Known for long life. I guess the 3.0L Vulcon just won't die.....they like an energizer, they keep going and going and going.
