Gas Prices/Bama Tuner

i have been thinking about getting a bama tuner, but with the increase in gas prices its very doubtfull i will ever use the high octane tunes... so would it still be worth it to get a tuner just for the 87 octane tunes? or would my money be better spent elsware.. ie. magnaflow duels, brushguard... ect

absolutely! even with the 87 tunes, you'll still get much improved performance and overall engine behavior across the entire powerband. it is still the best bang-for-your-buck modification, and, as it goes with any powertrain upgrade, better mileage is achievable and noticeable as long as you can keep yourself out of the gas pedal!

fyi, the only 87 tune worth having would be an 87 performance tune, anything else you want to bump up the octane some. you MAY get increased mileage from the tuner, but it all depends on how you drive your truck, and your own specific truck.

if youre looking to save fuel, an efan is a sure bet, a tuner may be next in line after that.

I have to run premium (92 octane) in my cadillac. I can always find it for .10 cents more than regular. Now filling up you ranger from E will cost you an extra 1.90 a tank on premium regardless of the price of gasoline. In reality since most don't fill it up from E it will be 1.30 to 1.50. Small change in my opinion for big gains in performance.

Just something to think about.

i have the 3.0 but i get better mileage with 93 then with 87 and i have calculated that as long as gas is above 2.20 a gallon i save money by useing 93. that is to assume that 93 cost 20 cents more then 87. thats just what my truck does i cannot tell you what yours will do just make sure you check it with the high octane fuel before you write it off
