What is the best muffler model?

Well I have come to the conclusion that if you want power you need either a Magnaflow or Borla. How much more performance do these mufflers give over Flowmaster?

What are the best models or size to get of each brand. I am assuming SI/DO is better?

Also keep in mind I at least want some type of a mean growl.

Thanks Jake

Not the exact model, but get it from this place for sure. They shipped fast and had the best prices I could find when I bought mine. Borla ProXS muffler

Kyle or anyone else, do you have a sound clip?

D. I was confused about your post. Are Borla or Magnaflows louder?

Thanks

magnaflow is pretty quiet, louder than stock at idle but not much with a little growl, almost a prrrr sound, at about 2500+ rpm is the best sound, loud enough to here it, but in the cab it doesnt bother you at all
summit carries it for like $540 if i remember correctly

Borla and Magnaflow sound relatively close. My Magnaflow sounds good.

I think there close in price too. I have single in dual out, 2.5'' pipes all the way.

Yes the Borla ProXS is louder. the XL is quiet, which is what i have.

If you want more sound go duals. want HP/TQ then SI/SO with clean bends and as straight as possible to get it out from under the truck

Thanks guys.

I have one more question. I know I am not going to go the Flowmaster route so that is done.

The current set up I have now is no muffler, just strait pipes from the cats back into duel exhaust.

Am I losing power with this set up? If I am I am going to go with the Borla Pro-XS with out a doubt.

I believe that is 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 all the way to the duels. My tips are 3in.

He's looking for a performance exhaust with a mean growl. The Gibson would probably be too quiet for his interest.

I used to have a Borla Pro XS with a SI/SO splitting to duals. I had lots of people wonder how I got a V8 into a little Ranger! They were very suprised when I told them it was a 6 cyl. I also took it on several 600+ mile trips and never once thought it was too loud or drone-y. I'd get it again in a heartbeat if I had the cash.

What is the difference between having the inlets and outlets off center or strait through. I know they make a variety of options.
