My 94 Explorer with 4.0 OHV auto 4wd.

Bought 2 months ago it get 7 mpg. Replaced Maf sensor, clean throttle body it was man NASTY inside intake it get 15 mpg. Honest to me that isn't good since I could get 15 mpg out 95 F250 with 5.8L.

It turn out I have bad coil pack that were misfire not provide spark to #1 cylinder. Replaced coil pack now I get 18.51-19 mpg that in city miles with tons of stop.

Now my goal is 22 mpg so I plan put electric fan on before I make 600 miles trip in 2 weeks left.

Honest why I think electric fan does better because I swear my fan clutch stay engage when cold. It get like 10 miles to stop engage.

Very much resistance to spin fan clutch with my hand so I believe electric fan would help me increase power and mpg.

Forgot to add IMPORTANT STUFF IS add vacuum gauge that how I got 19 mpg with 4,888 lb explorer. Without vacuum gauge I would get 15 mpg.

It hard for me explain

You really want to keep LIGHT on gas pedal that gauge actually help you.

Try keep vacuum gauge up 13 or more is the best that where you save gas.

Drove friend's 99 Ranger ext cab with small bed. 3.0L with automatic 4wd 4.10 in axle. I got 13 mpg from 200 miles highway it was very very underpower in my opinion. It couldn't hold overdrive gear when reach bridge it would rocket to 5K rpm from 2,800 rpm.

When I bought 94 explorer with 4.0L OHV V6 I wasn't think it strong but was surprised when I fix stuff now it beast it remind me of my first truck with 4.9L 6 inline.

i had one in my integra and it definatly helped me get my gas milage under control just by watching it it kinda tought me to not get on the throttle as much learned its not about how fast your going its how you used the gas pedal

With all the mods I have, including a blower, I still manage 18-20 mpg on mine with 245,xxx miles on the original motor (no internal work/repairs).
