intake and exhaust help a lot, but if you really want to wake up that sleepy SOHC you need a flasher or chip

www.bamachips.com doug is a member here and great guy

also moving this to 4.0 tech forum

With an intake exhaust and a 91+ performance tune from bamachips, you can expect to see around 225 hp at the fly wheel. I have this set up and am very happy with it.

If you add more air coming in, the logical thing is to get that exhaust out for better flow, so an Intake, Exhaust, and Chip/Tuner will wake up any beast.

You think you need help...I can't get help, I have a 4 banger. The only way I can boost power is an engine swap. lol

was that estimate about hp to the flywheel right? 225? seems a little low considering wut has been done and im not shelling out 400$ to get such low gains. ive been estimated at 227 or so with only exhaust.

a 4-litre is awesome with a turbo. get a giant turbo as opposed to dual turbo.

A member of GE got 10 RWHP on his 3.0 with a Bamachip. Its the best bang for the buck. He got exhaust and a K&N filter and only gaines something like 3rwhp. You wont get massive gains from just exhaust, sorry. The best luck your gonna have is with actual computer tuning by a man who is a ford tech, and thats Doug from Bamachips. Plus a chip should increase MPG, not decrease. Contact Doug for the exact info.

stock 4.0 Ranger gets 207HP to the flywheel...

if you are gauranteed 227HP so that's 20HP = about 3 rear wheel HP with the driveshaft and rear dif loss.....

the loss through the trans and diffs is usually not that high, typically the loss is 25-40% depending on the type of transmission

YEAH! Lets get a massive turbo that will only spool up at 6000RPM and again the engine will have no low end torque...LMFAO I can't beleive someone that.

Get a small turbo to spool up fast for more HP and torque(not much more), hell , you still won't get much torque from a turbo, the right way to go is a S/C, tons of torque from those.
