intake and exhaust help a lot, but if you really want to wake up that sleepy SOHC you need a flasher or chip

A member of GE got 10 RWHP on his 3.0 with a Bamachip. Its the best bang for the buck. He got exhaust and a K&N filter and only gaines something like 3rwhp. You wont get massive gains from just exhaust, sorry. The best luck your gonna have is with actual computer tuning by a man who is a ford tech, and thats Doug from Bamachips. Plus a chip should increase MPG, not decrease. Contact Doug for the exact info.

a 4-litre is awesome with a turbo. get a giant turbo as opposed to dual turbo.

Get a small turbo to spool up fast for more HP and torque(not much more), hell , you still won't get much torque from a turbo, the right way to go is a S/C, tons of torque from those.

.. yeah right.. get a turbo. Buy some chop sticks to go with it.
If you want to kick your sohc in the keister, your best bet is to start banking your nickles now and wait for the aftermarket to hit the mustang crowd. I wouldn't even spend the 150$ on an aftermarket CAI as its better saved for a forced induction setup where that nice new CAI probably won' fit due to intake routing being changed.
