Engine hesitates a lot...?
i tried searching "rough running" didnt get anything, so heres my problem...
my truck at IDLE has a sound like its missing.. i think im not even 85% sure what a miss sounds like.. but w/e its weird
it hasnt popped a code yet, and it was used to idle the same before i changed the spark plugs, i dont remember if it did it when it was under load...
then when i punch it between 2 and 4g the engine seems to almost miss? it has like a "puff" noise and i can feel it no pulling during that time frame... its annoying and any tips would b nice, im gonna test my fuel pressure and compression today...
could it be the injectors? or coil?
i want to pull the injectors but looking at the Haynes manual it seems like its not an easy task...
Thanks

search for "IAC" or "Idle Air Control".............it is a problem on the ranger 4.0's.......there is a thread in the How To section that explains how to fix it also.....
could also be a vacuum hose lose.....
or a bad spark plug or bad wires...........
that is the most common 3 things that prolly could be wrong with it i believe....

what kind of spark plugs did you put in it? if you put anything but Motorcraft, then that is prolly your problem.......if they are Motorcraft, did you replace your wires also? if not they may be bad; spray a mist of water over them at night with the truck running and if it looks like a lightning storm, then they need to be replaced.......another thing to check is all your vacuum hoses....you may have one off somewere...

I'm not sure if this is your problem but you might take a look at this.

I made the how to after i changed some gaskets. It might give you some ideas. At least it has some pics of the top of the engine taken apart if that helps with any repairs.

I'm glad it was something easy for you. Those kinds of rough running issues can be difficult to figure out sometimes.
And btw, Plugs other than motorcraft will work. They may not be the same quality. They could be worse or better. But as long as the plug manufacturer specs a particular plug for a particular year motor it will work.
