An idea for the ST...

The 4.0 in my ST is the same engine that is put in the 4.0 rangers right? If so, wouldn't I be able to do the MAF mod to it?

Don't see why not. Pull it apart and take a look at it!

Sweet. Was just making sure it was an okay idea before I screwed something up. I will either go and buy the torx bit I need tonight or I will this weekend and then report back with how it goes. Thanks :)

BTW the MAF mod doesn't do as much to the 4.0s as it does to the 3.0s right?

Yeah, I did it to my Mom's and Dad's Sport Trac, in addition to my brother and brother-in-law's...so yeah, I am thinking you should do it.

The whole MAF sensor is different in 2004 then in 2003 and down. You cannot do this mod on your truck. The new sensors do not have anything to cut off like in the old design.

I know for sure this to be the case in Rangers. I can only assume that it is the same for Explorer because they use the same exact engine. He would have to pull out his MAF and take a look at it...
