My 01 lasted 132k untilmy wife rolled it. Tore apart the engine for fun, was in GREAT shape...I did own it since new and was religious about oil changes though!
Bought our 04 in 08, it had 96k on it. I now have 158k on it, burns no oil, runs great.
If you know the thing has been taken care of I would have no problem buying a high mileage 4.0.

Condition will depend on how it was maintained and how it was driven. Infrequent oil changes, flooring it when cold, and short city trips, especially in cold weather contribute to shorter engine life. While 145K is "kind of" up there, if it's been properly maintained and treated decent, there' no reason why it won't go 250K+. And finally, remember that 200K miles is the new 100K miles.
*Why don't you take the VIN to a Ford service department and have them run it through OASIS and see what dealer service history it has. It's a freebie.

well the 3 hour round trip was not worth it. turns out the truck has a 3.0 instead of a 4.0, it had been hit from the back and had a new bed on it, and it had one wheel and tire different than the others. it drove great shifted great and i caught a 2nd gear scratch lol. but i had to pass on it. something didnt seem right. so still on the lookout. if anyone is bored and wants to look, my zip is 70570. thanks for the advice
