I thought it was supposed to be 45 or 42, 30 seems low.

Key On Engine Off 35 - 45 psi
Key On Engine Running 30 - 40 psi

thats specs from alldata for your truck, your fine, you wont feel the effects of low fuel pressure till you drop below 20-25 ish

sounds like it could be a mis-fire, or a number of things. have you checked your spark plugs lately? very bad spark plugs will do what you're describing, or could be a bad ignition coil. im not good at diagnosing over the internet. a bad fuel pump wont really shake, it just feels like the truck is running out of gas, and normally wont go over 20-30 mpg no matter how much you press the throttle

For your 94, it should be approximately 30 PSI at idle vacuum, 40 at WOT. Later Rangers with returnless fuel systems (98+?) run at 64 +/-8 PSI, same spec at idle or WOT.

Could be crappy gas. I only go to name brand places like BP or Shell. Run a couple of fill-ups and see if that helps. you may also benefit from a fuel additive. Hopefully, you don't have something clogging your fuel line (can get a little pricey). Good luck.

The fuel pressure sounds fine, but as mentioned earlier be sure to check the plugs and plug wires. I had this same problem last week and when the fuel filter did not solve it I changed my plugs and plug wires and the motor ran just like new.

like if you check the haynes manual, or even the manual that came with the truck, or you could even call up a ford dealer, but they tell you what you should do for like 30K 60K 90K 120K and so forth. but i know, its plugs, wires, coil or cap and rotor if it applies, every filter, belts (timing and accessory belt), i dont know about timing chain, but i know if you have a timing belt they want you to replace it. and i hate to say it, you might even wanna think about getting the head gaskets changed out, unless they have recently been done, like within a 100k or so if you feel like it.

but damn 251k miles, do you have any leaks or cel lights coming on.
just goes to show you how built those old ford engines are
