Engine Occasionaly misfires

The engine will be running just perfect, and then the engine will miss and turn on the check engine light, Then sometimes the light will turn off for a bit then back on, or it will just stay on solid. I haven't checked the plugs or wires yet because neither of them are more than a couple months old, but thats going to be the first thing to check. But I was wondering if maybe the coil pack is going bad. I left it in my auto shop class and the teacher told me they couldn't get a code on for the check engine light, I'm not sure If it was because the light wasn't on at the time or what.

It should have stored a code in history...

Could be a coil, but in my experience they aren't that intermittent. I would suspect a bad plug or wire.

Ok, So I tried testing the codes manually by using a jumper wire and volt meter and the engine light, It doesn't work at all. On Koeo test the check engine light just stays on solid and doesn't flicker or flash, I tried using a voltmeter and it was on solid too. I double checked my jumper wire according to the manual. Is my computer messed up? Does this means its bad? I first though it was missing when the light turns on, Now im noticing that its not really doing much when the light goes on.

miles on truck since last plug and wire change? im voting its gonna be that, if i were you id go buy a can of seafoam, pour it in the gas tank, drive that till empty then go get some new plugs and wires and see what happens(dont put seafoam in it with the new plugs because it can ruin them.

Well like I said The plugs and wires are Nearly new , Replaced them a about two months ago, And its had about 3 thousand miles or so on it since then . The truck has About 180,000 miles on it overall. I getting codes now, earlier it wasnt working for some reason.
