Data logged a pure stock 4.0L
Just thought you guys might like to see this power datalog that I did this morning. It's done on my *pure stock* 2006 FX4 w/600miles on it.
This weekend I'll be doing a K&N kit install. I wanted to do a before and after data log of power gained with it. I've done this with my autotap on other Ford products and each times it's been very accurate.
In the linked excell file you can see that I'm down on power as compaired to Fords advertised "207HP & 238 ft lbs TQ". And this is especially true considering the DA (density altitude) of this mornings air. (-1468.4 below sea level) Keep in mind here that these numbers are measured as power is applied into the torque convertor. *not the rear wheels* like as is typical of a chassie dyno.
Reasons for power being low:
I'll investigate the throttle cable thing to make sure that's not limiting me.
I also wonder if there is some sort of break in tune that's limiting power? (the timing seems very low to me)
Maybe the motor and tranny just simply are not broke in enough yet?
Oh and for what it's worth this truck seemed to pull just as strong as the 07s I test drove. So I don't think I'm out of whack with this particular truck.

I don't doubt it. Because of the DA this morning I'd fully expect to have seen it make 210-215HP. There is something holding it back. I'd like to know what non-chipped/flashed 01+ 4.0L motors are running for timing. 17 deg at high rpms is extremely low for a na motor.
Also, this is only the 2nd time it's seen those rpms. I'm sure it'll need some milage to make sure everything it seated.

yea man, wait a bit before you run it again. yet sounds like you are ready to start modding so i know how hard it can be to wait. lol

No.. it was done with www.autotap.com (ford enhanced package) and on my laptop.
The real down side to serious data logging with it is the 20points per second limit. I could make a very nice rpm/TQ log. But measuring other parameters take away from it's accuracy. In the above log I recorded MAF volts, intake temps, rpms, TQ, & timing. So that's limiting me to 4 snapshots per second per item.
When I do the stock vs K&N I'll just record rpm vs TQ to get a more accurate log.
Hopefully I'll be doing this tonight before the snow hits our area.
