I do remember reading in the last year or so about some coolants being incompatible with others and causing problems.Something about 2 different coolants mixed together and forming something resembling syrup.
IMO stick with what the manual calls for.

Anybody else recall what I'm talking about?

Manual should tell you how much as well. Prestone, Peak, shoould be fine. Just check and see if it is compatable with aluminum. I think most are. One note, I would stay away from the orange stuff for the chevys. I wouldnt even use it in a chevy. I have seen too many bow ties with antifreeze that basically looks like mud. I dont know why or how but I dont think its good antifreze.

My 04 manual (in pdf format) says:
2.3 inline 4cy with manual trans
10L (10.5 QT)
2.3 inline 4cy with auto
9.7L (10.2qt)
3.0L manual
14.3L (15.1qt)
3.0L auto
14.0L (14.8qt)
4.0L manual
13.0L (13.7qt)
4.0 Auto
12.5L (13.2qt)

But at the same time, I dont think I got 3 gallons in mine when I changed it. I will have to check it on monday.

I have the 04 manual in an e-mail-able form. If you or anybody else wants it. Its on line somewhere but I dont remember where i got it. shagmail@yahoo and I will send it, to anybody.

Don't use the dexcool stuff (orange) Any other will work fine on a 03.

When I did my e-fan I took the radiator out of the truck. Putting it all back together it took about 1 gallon (total) of fluid.

I like to do mine on a hill(which is my driveway)....i flush out all the green by having the petcock opened up, along with letting the hose put in fresh water in the cap. I let it do that......then let it drain out while running for a few minutes to pump some of the water out of the block....just don't let it get too hot...itlll get warm, definately. I use prestone yellow...which is okay to mix with green or orange.
