Icon5 Bama Tuner trans pressure settings

Where have you guys set yours at? +5%, +10%, ????

I have mine at +5 right now and I think it could use more but I am wondering if +10% would be too much of a jump (too harsh on the drivetrain). Now bear in mind that my trans. has been set up to shift harder than the average Bama tune at both part throttle and full throttle because I had Doug to revise my tune after getting my tuner because I wasn't satisfied with the standard Bama tune shifts (part and full throttle).

So where are you guys at?

BTW, I have my shifts set to occur right at 6000 rpm at WOT.

I have some tunes by Fredness (Rogue Performance) and I had the same problem -- his "firm" was still mushy. I have mine up around 5 to 8 percent I believe for shifts at higher throttle setting.

I'm using ExtremeTune though and not an XCAL2 so it's hard to know if the units are the same or not -- still, I did crank it up.

If you barking the tires at anything but WOT.. it's too firm. Otherwise your probably not pushing it *too hard*. You ought to be able to detect the shift taking place. If it's a sudden thump at lighter throttle? Then back it off for longevity sake... or don't. It's up to you.

He did things just fine everywhere for most aggressive drivers. Much firmer than what came in the tuner (his standard Ranger tune), but I think that at WOT it could stand a little more. I might try 10%. I just wondered how much effect that had on those guys with is standard tune.

The nice thing about it is the way it constructs an overall "curve". What you do at high throttle has very little effect on low throttle.

i have mine set differently......

1 --> 2 = 20%
2 --> 3 = 25%
3 --> 4 = 20%
4 --> 5 = 25%

i am by no means barking the tires between shifts.....it does however shift hard/firmer than it ever has......

WOW, you got me there, I thought they only installed them on the Explorers with the SOHC engine & then the Rangers when they came out with the same engine. I guess I lost touch with Rangers when I sold my 94 & bought my F-150. I learn something new everyday...see...the old saying you can't teach old dogs new tricks doesn't apply to me even though I'll probably forget it by tomorrow :-)

OH BTW, my settings are cranked as high as they will go. I would like to add a shift kit down the road & back off on the tuner settings. I guess I'm used to my F-150 smoking them in 1st & chirping them 2nd & 3rd.
