Tune-up questions

2004 FX4II 4.0 SOHC

I just purchased Motorcraft AFGSF34FP plugs. Under my hood it shows the gap should be 1.32-1.42mm, which converts to .052-.056 in. Does this sound correct?

How and when should you clean the EGR components?

Where in the hell is the PCV????

PVC is on the back of the Driver Side Valve Cover. The is the right gap. So mess with your EGR Valve unless you really need to. ranger1999xlt

I'm afraid that a gap over a half inch is way too big!!!!

The correct gap is 0.052 - 0.056

Well thats not a half inch anyways. a half is .5 (where .056 is 56 thousandths) Secondly he may have an aftermarket coil pack.

well fellas i dont have an aftermarket coil. The .62-.68 spark plugs gap is what it says under the hood on the front radiator support. Check yours out and see what it says.

FYI, tune up interval is 100k. 80k ish is a good time to do it. Ford runs a double platinum to get that kinda of life out of the plug. Also you should replace the O2's at the same time.

Check your decimal points, I've never heard of a plug gap over a half inch.
Even 0.062 would be a huge gap!

The box is printed by man, not god. .62-.68 is a typo. GG bad tech writer.

I mean the spark plug barely has a diameter of a half inch.

A good gap is a .062 for the plugs, unless they state differently.

The Pulstar Plugs are a total scam, check out the discussion here:

None of them have used it though, how can they give a valid statement if they have no proof of any of it?

In fact, I actually checked every link you gave in that post, along with what every single person claimed.. and not a single person has tried them with any valid benchmarks.. I'm usually the type to say no to no proof. It's sort of like saying an orange doesn't smell like an orange, if you haven't smelled an orange and no one else has smelled an orange, how would they know with only speculation what the orange smells like? (that was a wierd mouthful )

Most of them, including myself, can see technically (electronics theory) why they won't work.

Scam companies like this prey on people like yourself that don't understand basic electronics principles.

Here are just a few other scam companies, including the Pulstar Plugs! I find it interesting that the Tornado site includes a bible verse so you might think they are legit!!

http://www.petro-mag.com/

http://www.tornadofuel-saver.com/?gc...FQo2GgodfTuRCA

http://www.pulstarpulseplugs.com/default.asp?KID=3340

Great examples of how companies prey on people, who don't have any technical (or engineering) background!

Never heard about Petro before, now THAT sounds funky.. but I have heard of the tornado (who hasn't) and that has been fully proven to not do anything with our engines in particular. Anywho, we should probably continue this in a different topic if applicable.. i hate thread jacking :-(
