OHV Oil question

i've been running 10w-30 in my truck for a long time, and its always burnt up a little bit of oil here and there, just kinda happens with the high mileage. but on my last oil change, i put in 10w-40, just to change things up, and i havent had to add any more for 2,000 miles. i know the manual recommends 10w-30, especially with the heat and all, but the 10w-40 shouldnt hurt right? it doesnt seem to burn off as quick either. kinda a noob question, but couldnt find anything in the search.

if you use 1 quart of Lucas oil stabilizer with 4 quarts oil at every oil change, the oil consumption will be down. I use it in ALL of my vehicles.

10-40 won't hurt anything. Detroit likes to run the lightest oil possible because it might give a tiny bit better gas mileage.

Yes and they also make a synthetic oil stabilizer too.

it won't hurt for 10W-40 our van is supposed to take 5W30 but in the summer we put in 10W30 just so it don't heat up as quick and it don't eat any oil.
