after losing my pride and joy 03 ranger fx4 off road level II i ended up buying a 99 ranger with the OHV in it and have had problems with it ever since i started driving it. Anyone have any advice as far as how much modification i would be looking at if i were to swap out the engine for a fuel injected 302? Ive also noticed that there are not any vacuum lines that are in sight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I dont know too much, but my 99 ranger with the OHV has never given me a probelm except for the time the thermostat got stuck and ran hot, but was a fairly easy fix... What kinds of problems have you encountered with yours ?
99~2000 Rangers are a fairly easy swap to a 99~01 Explorer 302 w/4R70W automatic. If your Ranger is 4WD and you want to retain it, that makes the swap a bit more work but 2WD is easy. Manual trans is also possible but more involved. Check out the parts list in this thread:
