Looks like I may need to do this next time the oil is changed. Its a little damp right around where it is, doesn't drip or anything but I would like to have it correct. Looks fairly easy to get to, any tips or tricks/major issues I need to keep in mind? Do you just use the new dry gasket or goop it up a little with some RTV? Thanks!

 

I never cared for RTV , with the exception of corners where two gaskets meet (ie:intakes on v8's)
I prefer to use Permatex Aviation grade Form-a-Gasket. It is a semi-liquid form applied with a brush , which is part of the container lid.
Just brush on a thin film on the gasket and the mating surface , let stand for 10-15 minutes , this allows it to 'tack up' , then assemble.
Letting it get tacky helps hold the gasket in place while you get the parts in position , but still allows you to reposition it for alignment.

Many people use too much RTV , and when squeezed out , a piece of it could get jammed in an oil passage.(Seen it happen)

 

Since you have the SOHC, are you talking about the lower oil pan gasket (the flat one) or the lower engine block gasket? Its so easy to do the lower oil pan on a SOHC, on the older engines you have to lift the engine or remove the front axle, I'll replace mine when its time for a new engine haha.

If your not losing oil between changes, I mean at least a quart. Its not worth the headache.
