The oil and pressure inside the valve cover should not be very high. Take some acetone and wipe the oil off. Then some duct tape over the hole should keep you driving til you get it fixed.

Might want to take the pcv valve out and spray it out with carb cleaner too.

OHC is overhead cam. OHV is the older engine which means overhead valve.

... i think you missed my question. I know their from an OHC (00 and older) version of the 4.0, the OP was going to put them on his 4.0 SOHC. since they are different engines i didn't know if parts could be interchanged between them.

SOHC just means Single Over Head Cam, its the EXACT samt thing as the 4.0 OHC (Over Head Cam). OHV is over Head Valve, and it is different.

No...you misunderstood what he said back to you....

It's OHC explorer is the same as the (S)OHC in the ranger.... OHV is the 2.9 based 4.0 found in '00 and older rangers and explorers. The 4.0L SOHC was introduced in the Explorer in approx '97. It was also introduced in the ranger in '01.

They are not different engines.
