i have an 1998 ford ranger 3.0 4x2 and look to buy an 2003 4.0 sohc (blow up) (head failure) 4x4 ranger. Why not just replace the head and timing chains and have a good running 4.0l
it is possible to put the 3.0 98 2x4 manual into a 2003 4.0 4x4 manual? It's possible, is it worth it? No. You will have to swap everything over.
the wire harness is same? No
motor mount? No
You will pretty much have to swap everything from the 98 to the 2003 including the dash harness, fuel lines, you will have to find a engine harness and transmission harness for a 98 with 4x4 and manual transmission.
