thats what i figured. thanks man. Everyone on RPS told me to stick with stock coil pack because it works very good but some people on this board seem to be all wet about the screamin demon. I'm doing a major tune up today, do you think I should even get a new coil pack? my truck has like 85000 on it and I doubt if the plugs and wires have ever even been changed

The Screaming Demon pack is a good product. Many people have them here and have had no problems and have seen positive results. I'm not sure about the Accel system.
Don't listen to Takeda. He thinks OEM is the best out there and nothing is an improvement over it. Listen to people that have real experience with this product.

no way of knowing if their products even meet the reliability standards!!
Performance Distributors (maker of Screamin Demon), MSD, or Accel have the equipment (HTOL chambers, T&H chambers, and TC chambers) for doing the reliability testing!!

You know what though, no one gives a **** except you. I have aftermarket products on my truck and I have no problems with them. Hell a lot of people here have aftermarket products and have no problems. Once and a while there is a problem but OEM does crap out. If OEM was the best then why are there recalls and TSBs? Explain that. If you choose to stick with OEM good for you but we don't need you going into every thread and spreading your diarrhea all over it. One guy is not going to change my opinion about aftermarket products especially one that has never had any experience with them.
By the way, I have a K&N drop in, James Duff traction bars, EBC slotted rotors and Ultimax pads, Bosch Platinum 4 plugs, JBA plug wires, Castrol Syntech oil, Lucas oil stabilizer, Mobil One oil filter, Magnaflow catback exhaust, BFG ATs, Panasonic head unit, Pioneer door speakers Alpine amp and Eclipse sub and my truck runs just fine if not better at 110,000 miles. Acceleration, handling, braking and audio sound quality have been improved significantly over OEM. Period!

I'm trying to save the OP some money! It's a shame you don't have the technical background to understand what I'm talking about, and you
have been sucked into the BS from these aftermarket companies!
Now, you are trying to justify to yourself throwing your money away!

I don't have technical background? How the hell do you know? You don't know who I am nor I do you. I do know that no one cares for your input. I see whats going on here. I'm the "kid" so that automatically makes me wrong. Sorry not true.
You didn't answer my question about OEM screw ups. Why are there recalls and TSBs if OEM is the best?
No one cares that you are trying to save them money. No one wants to be the same as the other guy therefore we buy aftermarket products. It's that simple. And I haven't been sucked into the aftermarket bs. I use something called trial and error. Ever heard of it?
I would rather have Maurice's ******** attitude on this forum than your OEM is the best philosophy.
Done with this thread!

I have heard rave reviews of the Screamin Demon coil and when I do my tune up here in the next few months that is the way I am going. I am still up in the air about plugs but I will be getting the heat braid wires from wayne at underdogperformance.com Let us know what you decide man and keep searching as to what people have said about their experience with the different products

I guess you only read Performance Distributer's review of the Screamin Demon!!!
I guess you missed these reports.....they seem to go along with my concern of no reliability testing:

Good to know if I am planning on putting one on my import, a ptcruiser, or a SRT4 neon? WTF?! He is asking about them on a Ranger. Give it up with your faulty research to try and prove your OEM point. You have said your piece about how you love OEM only, now stop posting and let those with actual FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE post about them.
Have I ever posted that you can't buy one of these aftermarket ignitions / coils? You go right ahead!!!
You just need to realize that they don't do the reliability testing as I have previously posted. They also use the same manufacturing processes to build
all their coilpacks...GM, Mopar, Ford, etc .....
And if the reliability isn't enough, they don't test the primary impedance, so you can risk damaging the open collector coil drivers in your PCM!

The performance gains from these things are questionable... i will agree with you there, but to tell everyone that all aftermarket performance mods are unreliable and will mess the truck up is just nonsense!
