Coolant Empty within a Month
Hey guys,
I was checking the fluids on the truck yesterday and noticed that my coolant reservoir is bone dry... I am very concerned because it was full to the brim about a month ago and the truck has sat for a good two weeks... so it has gone empty in only about 75-100 miles of driving. I also noticed when i was installing my skid that underneath the truck it was wet/oily by where the oil filter is. Maybe this has something to do with the coolant being low? What would you guys think it is? A pinhole in some tubing or something wrong with the radiator? Thanks for any input!

Could be a number of things. First thing i'd check is the little hose that connects to the overfill container at the bottom. Mine has come loose a couple of times and i've lost all my coolant. I finally just used a zip tie or two to make it real tight.
Could be another leaky hose somewhere. Maybe the waterpump is bad. Maybe the radiator has a leak in it. Could also be the thermostat housing is leaking.

Check your oil (via the dip stick) and look for any milky or bubbly film. If you have that, then you're in for it because the head gasket(s) is done.
As stated above, check the hose at the reservoir to ensure it's not leaking or cracked.
Do a pressure test of the radiator and see if the system holds pressure over night. If not, locate the leak.
Can't tell from the picture very well, but if it's leaking from the front of the block and back, it could also be the water pump. Inspect the gasket around the pump. Also, check the weep hole on the pump to see if it's clogged or leaking.

Check the walls of the reservoir for cracks too !
The hoses do go bad.
Also, when you say “filled to the brim” this isn’t coffee we are talking about , there is a fill line !
Anti-Freeze is oily feeling so i the coolant is leaking it could be just a mixture of anti-freeze and oil residues on the engine and that is all you are feeling.
What does your radiator look like on the outside, is there staining on it like leaking problems.
Just asking.
