Driver's side header removal

Whats up guys, its been awhile since I have been on. My father in-laws 94 4.0 decided to finally give it up. The head gaskets blew. I have the passenger side head off but can't get the driver's side manifold loosened.

Is there a trick to this or does it just require alot of patience?

I have had little trouble getting the motor apart, its not that hard. I have only been working on it since yesterday.

All I can say.. is first remove the EGR (If you've got it) and then you have to sort of fish it directly up alongside the motor.. it will fit, its just sort of a PITA.. after you put it and out a few times, you'll get the hang of it. More of a maze then anything :-)

Well I gave up on removing the header from the head and decided to hopefully separate the header from the exhaust pipe. I got one bolt out, but can't get the other one out. I sprayed it in pb blaster and will wait and see if it worked its way loose tomorrow.

Ohh hah, yeah.. what I may recommend for you to do... Unbolt the exhaust down there behind the first 2 cats right after the headers.. You'll see them all ruste dup down there, that will let that small section of pipe sag just enough fo ryou to get some wiggle room to undo the header's flange. Then wiggle it a bit until the header pops out of the flange and is on its own, then its easy money on that side

Man, the passenger side was easy, why did they have to make the driver's side such a pain in the butt.

It wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the brake components in the way.
