New Top end..
I am looking to redo my entire top end at around 100k miles. And i am wondering what everyone recommends for parts such as lifters, pistons, heads, rockers, and cams.
I am looking to redo it for performance when i do so any part recommedations and any input at all would be great.

They have some pretty good performance parts for your engine.

I would have to hear it. More than likely it's just your injectors or maybe even an exhaust manifold leak. The 4.0s also have a timing chain rattle problem. At just under 3000 RPM the engine will make a rattling sound. Ford is awesome and they basically said we screwed up but we are not paying for it. So they issued a TSB instead of a recall. They did however extend the warranty for the 4.0 Exploders since they paid more for their cars.

Unless it's slipping then it fine. Another problem with these truck is the slave cylinder. It likes to go out often and you have to take the transmission off to get to it. You can tell when it's going out when you can't get into gear at a light. Mine got so bad that I had to pump the clutch like 40 times before I drove anywhere.

Tranny has to come out. You would need a tranny jack. Also I have heard that separating the t case from the tranny before you pull the tranny make the job easier. Also if you change the clutch change the pilot bearing while you are there. Clutch parts are fairly cheap if you stay with stock. If you are upgrading it can get sort of pricey. Here is a good stock kit. Centerforce, Zoom and Spec make aftermarket clutches. I have a Centerforce but it chatters. I think it's the clutch design because the Centerforce I had on before did the same. It does grab when you need it to.
