Question for all of you SOHC 5speed owners..

How many of you have noticed that you can breakout the tires all the way through first, into second, and then still get rubber shifting into 3rd gear?

I just want to point out that this feat is utterly incredible.

3rd gear rubber?!!!!

lol, i love my truck!

I could do that when I had stockers but now with the 31's I don't wanna try. Did that with my old truck and had to replace the rearend.

Mine used to....now i'm on 35's and stock 4.10 gearing. no more chirpage into 3rd. I've had it chirp into 2nd a few times on 35's. Dry pavement people. dry. not wet. wet...i can be sideways in effin 4th gear!

Stock...this truck was a blast to drive. HELL.....my old ranger(now my brothers) 4cyl 5spd 2wd....it'd chirp into 2nd.

BUT....i'm not about chirpage....i'm all about the powerbraking. This truck was like made for powerbraking. EVEN on 35's and stock 4.10s.

Oh yea....for me....a set of tires that last 1.5yrs means i've been taking care of them.

Mine hops/chirps hard to 2nd, and on 3rd it just hops (don't think it chirps). I bet some nice traction bars will eliminate the hop, and transfer that to some nasty spin. I rather spin than hop, this truck is a bit jumpy.

Mine will burn 1st, but is done as soon as second comes up, I don't know if it's the grippy tires or the diffy.

I usually try to stop pushing by the second, as otherwise I'll crap my pants. But on the first, I can usually get a good burnout in the undies.

I like gas mileage too much to try roasting my tires. Although I did try it in the Dodge when I test drove it.

my truck will not let me power brake it

i pop the clutch and on the brake with it floored the rpms just drop untill it eventually stalls

any reason for this? i can spin them through 1st and part of second if im not on the brake

i could tear up the tires on my taco

I am calling b/s on chirping 3rd on dry ground. I dont know if its my 31's or what but i can spin em through first and into second but unless im on ice there is no way 3rd gear is happening for me. Maybe its the L/S?? hmm..

But clutch dropping and burning out = bad wear on both drive lines and on the gears and the clutch and everything else.. I say bad idea.. unless its snow or rain ;].

I would have to agree....I can chirp the rubber off going into 2nd but 3rd just hooks too well. That's with my 31's...maybe with some 215's or 235's or something it might be possible

Yeah i dont know if its my torsen limited slip that hooks cause i am sure thats part of it.. But when i spin my 31's its both tires

But that rear end hooks way tooooooo well for me..

Lately i just lost interesting in spinning on asphalt or concrete.. tires are too expensive and so is a clutch and a rear end eeek.

But i could see being on like 29x9.5 spinning alot maybe some RT/s tires haha
