Real bad sound when starting

I've been having a bad sound when I start the engine up.. it sounds like a scraping of maybe even a "dieing deisel" trying to start up. its kinda hard to explain... it wasnt too bad when it started but its getting worse over time.
is anyone else getting this problem?
ive been trying to use my e-brake when i park, even one slight hills to see if that would help at all and go a little easier on the trans... but not much improvement
im probably gonna end up takin it in and havein it checked if i cant find out soon

Is it a Manual or Auto? If its an Auto it sounds like your Tourqe Converter is locking up. mine did that. I had to drop the trans and replace the tourqe converter but I also rebuilt the trans while I was at it.

make sure your starter bolts are tight, and then check your bell houseing bolts and make sure their tight.

mine is doing the same thing so if you find out what it is let me know it almost sounds like the starter is grinding but it only does it when the engine is cool

It probably has to do with the timing chain rattle, mine has it and can make a strange noise when i start it.

I think Zach's (zabeard) 03 does it too.
